Goals for Grassroots at the Roar |
Monday, 24 August 2009 |
As seen on the Channel 9 show "Football Stars of Tomorrow" our Goals for Grassroots game is on this Saturday August 29 at Suncorp Stadium (3pm kick-off). Every goal the Brisbane Roar score against the Central Coast Mariners means an extra $1000 for the club (with a limit of $5000).
Mitchelton's under 10 "Magic" are also mascots for the Roar, and our Mitchie under 8 "Chargers" are also playing an SSG curtain-raiser at Suncorp that same day, so it would be great to get a good crowd of MFC supporters along to cheer for as many Roar goals as possible. Click here to get tickets to this game.

Channel 9’s “Football Stars of Tomorrow” a “Roaring” Success |
Sunday, 12 July 2009 |
Many thanks to all the players and families who turned up on Saturday, 11 July, for the filming of the Channel 9 show “Football Stars of Tomorrow” at Mitchie. As it is a nationwide TV show, it was a great day to showcase our club to the Australian football fraternity. MFC President Kevin Jones said a special thank you to thank all volunteers and parents who helped out on the day to make it such a success. And thanks to everyone who attended for your patience, as the timing and running of it on the day was out of our control at club level.
Brisbane Roar stars Michael Zullo and Reinaldo, and the Channel 9 crew including presenter Stephanie Brantz and producer Andy Paschalidis, were openly impressed with our turn-out on the day and our facilities. The $1000 cheque presented to the club on the day (click on the photo above for a larger version) could grow with another $1000 being donated by the show’s Hyundai “Goals for Grassroots” promotion for every goal the Roar score against The Central Coast on 29 August. Let’s hope it ends up with the Roar 5 – Central Coast 0.
Keep an eye on this website for details of when the MFC episode of the show goes to air. Click on the following thumbnails for more photos.

Once again the weather conditions put paid to our hopes of having our new light poles erected last week. The still soggy fields meant the 25-tonne crane needed to lift the poles into position could not get onto the fields without causing severe damage. Fingers crossed that the weather holds and we can finish this important project as soon as possible. Keep watching this space for lighting project updates.

Wednesday, 01 July 2009 |
Calling all Mitchie FC Juniors. Do you want to be on TV?
Channel 9 has a great new football show (Football Stars of Tomorrow) which goes to air every Sunday at 2.00pm. Our Director of Football, Greg Brown, has arranged for the show to come to Mitchelton and do a
feature story on the Junior side of the Club. This program is broadcast nationally and will provide great exposure for the
club.
The Channel 9 crew will be at Teralba Park from
just before midday on Saturday 11 July 2009. Representatives from Brisbane Roar will also be coming down. We need to try and get as many Mitchie FC juniors playing, watching or just
being around the club at that time. Juniors who can make it will need to be at the club from about 11.00am until finished. All players should be in their sponsors training shirt. We will set up teams and play games for fun.
Keep an eye on this website for more information as it comes to hand.

Lighting Project Update - 1 July 2009 |
Wednesday, 01 July 2009 |
The footings for the 4 new light poles have been poured and most of the underground conduit has been laid.
By the end of the week the new cross arms for the poles will have arrived and the attachment of the light fittings can begin.
Next Wednesday is a rest day for the Southern Skies Football Tournament being held at the club and this will allow for the new poles to be erected.
The only casualty so far has been a broken water pipe which was promptly fixed by Grant (Jabba) Bryant. Thanks Grant.
The project is going to plan.
A reminder to parents, coaches and managers to please keep all kids away from the work areas.
