Girls can play in junior mixed teams from Under 6 up to and including Under 17.
In the 2006 season there were some 50 girls playing up to U17 level. Throughout the junior teams, girls will be graded into teams in exactly the same way as the boys, based on ability and not gender.
As the players get older, the girls may choose to join the Ladies competition.
Mitchelton Football Club has no set age limit for girls to stop participating with the boys, however it is usually around the Under 15 age group that a natural separation may occur generally due to physique/ability.
In 2007 Mitchelton fielded 4 teams in the Brisbane Women's Soccer Association competitions, an Under 12 and Under 14, along with Division 7 and Division 2 teams.
We are hoping to have the same number of girls teams this season.

More About Women's Football at Mitchie
Since the rebirth of Mitchelton Women’s Football in 2003, Mitchie has sought to strengthen its position in the competitive arena of Women’s Football.
2003 saw Mitchie field a sole open women’s side, which brought home both the major and minor premierships. With the growing interest in Women’s Football, 2004 and 2005 saw Mitchie expand to two open teams in order to cater to a more diverse range of playing experience.
Following a successful 2005 season in which Mitchelton Women’s Division 3 took home the major premiership and Division 8 finished a solid third Mitchie has realised that an opportunity exists to become a leading women’s football club.
To ensure the future development and success in the women’s league, 2006 has seen the establishment of an Under 12 and Under 14s women’s division in hope of bridging the gap between the junior and senior competitions. With a strong junior base the club will be able to break into the higher divisions of senior women’s football. Hopefully in the not to distant future will see a Premier Women’s Team stand next to our Men as the pride of Mitchie.
Although there are no set age limits to the girls / women who participate in these open divisions, young women can choose to play in the junior mixed teams up until and including Under 17s. With kick off in mid-march the Mitchelton Women’s Football divisions are looking forward to another successful season.
Mitchelton is aware of the importance of women’s football so we are looking for new players to join our club in 2007. If you are interested please feel free to contact the Club at
