Welcome
to Women’s Football at Mitchelton….
Since
the rebirth of Mitchelton Women’s Football in 2003, Mitchie has sought to
strengthen its position in the competitive arena of Women’s Football. With the growing interest in Women’s
Football, Mitchie has realised that an opportunity exists to become a leading
women’s football club. In response to
this and to cater to a more diverse range of playing experience, Mitchelton
have expanded from a sole open women’s side in 2003 to three open teams in 2009
– Women’s Youth, Division 6 and Division 1.
To
ensure the future development and success in the women’s league, Mitchelton
have encouraged the growth of junior women’s teams in hope of bridging the gap
between the junior and senior competitions.
2006 saw the establishment of Mitchelton’s first junior women’s
side. In 2009, Mitchelton is privileged
to field three junior women’s teams - Under 12, Under 13 and Under 15.
With
a strong junior base, Mitchelton will be able to continually field teams in
higher divisions of senior women’s football.
The establishment of the women’s Division 1 side in 2009 provides junior
players with the opportunity to remain with the club throughout their football career.
Although
Mitchelton supports the development of women’s football it imposes no set age
limit for girls to stop participating in the mixed junior sides. Throughout the junior teams, girls are graded
into teams exactly the same way as the boys, based on ability and not gender.
Mitchelton
is aware of the importance of women’s football and are always looking for new
players of all experience levels to join our club. If you are interested please contact the
appropriate junior or senior club contact.
With kick off in March the MItchelton Women's Football divisions are looking forward to a successful season and wish all payers good luck for 2009.
