Water Harvesting Masterplan Project Now Complete
Friday, 15 July 2016

newitem  On Thursday 9th June 2016 the official handover of the now completed Mitchelton FC Water Harvesting Masterplan Project took place at Teralba Park with representatives from Brisbane City Council (B.C.C) Project Managers T.I.S (Turf Irrigation Specialists) , groundsman Adam Hindley and club President Roger McIntosh.

The total project cost was $151,250 incl GST with a grant of $110,000 from B.C.C included in that final amount. The infrastructure includes a new 233,000 litre storage tank and a  new second water bore (located near fields 7 and 8) which will continually pump (as required) water at approximately 1 litre/second into the tank. This pump for this bore has a running cost of approximately 23 cents per hour while operating.

The original bore close to the tank will also continue to run as required. A "storm water capture” pit and pump was also installed at the corner of fields 1 and 3. This will allow up to 400 litres per minute  of run-off water to be captured and transferred to the storage tank. The main line diameter was increased from 63mm to 110mm on all underground pipes leading from the tank to all fields. This, along with a much more powerful irrigation pump, will greatly increase the pressure of the water leaving the sprinkler heads leading to a more even coverage throughout the fields.

Mitchie FC Achieves Level 2 Accreditation
Tuesday, 17 November 2015

newitem  In a very exciting development, news has just come through that Mitchelton FC has attained Level 2 Accreditation as part of the FFA National Club Accreditation Scheme. This makes Mitchelton the first men’s Brisbane Premier League club (and only the sixth club in QLD) to achieve this statusclub_accreditation_mitchy.

In a personal letter of congratulations, FFA CEO David Gallop said this achievement showed that Mitchelton had taken yet another step towards achieving best practice in the areas of coach education, club governance and volunteer development. “Your club has put itself in a better position to retain and recruit players, attract sponsors and attract volunteers” My Gallop said.

Club President Roger McIntosh said this was a significant development in the progress of the club and showed its commitment to being a market leader in key areas of player and coach development and facility improvement. “We are one of the biggest clubs in QLD with 1150 active playing members. Constant self evaluation and improvement is imperative in keeping us at the forefront of football development and ties in well with our plans for future expansion”.

McIntosh gave special praise to Accreditation Officer Grant Bramwell who has worked tirelessly on this project.
