Vale Graham "Pa" Coomber
Friday, 20 November 2015
grahamcoomber1newitem  The Mitchelton Football Club is saddened to hear of the passing today of club stalwart, coach and long-term supporter, Graham "Pa" Coomber.

Pa, as he was affectionately known, has been a part of this club for a very long time. He has had a long association with the juniors as a coach, a Director of Coaching and a junior referee coach and coordinator. Graham gave many hours of his time supporting all aspects of the club, and had a special place in his heart for women's football at Mitchie FC.

Our condolences go to wife Allison, son Justin and his extended family. The Coomber family has had a very long history of service at our club, with Graham's son Justin a long-term coach and member of the management committee, and grandson Eliot playing most of his junior football at Mitchie FC.

The Coomber family has extended a welcome to all club members to attend Graham's funeral service which will be held at the Lakeview Chapel, Albany Creek Memorial Park (400 Albany Creek Road, Bridgeman Downs) at 2:00pm this Wednesday 25 November 2015. Club members attending the funeral are asked to wear club colours, and are invited to attend a memorial function at the Mitchie FC clubhouse at Teralba Park after the funeral service.

Many Mitchie FC teams are currently playing in off-season competitions (indoor, 5-a-side, 6-a-side and other competitions). All players are requested to consider wearing black arm bands for their next match in honour of Graham Coomber.

Please feel free to leave condolence messages on the Mitchie FC Facebook page -

Mitchie FC Achieves Level 2 Accreditation
Tuesday, 17 November 2015

newitem  In a very exciting development, news has just come through that Mitchelton FC has attained Level 2 Accreditation as part of the FFA National Club Accreditation Scheme. This makes Mitchelton the first men’s Brisbane Premier League club (and only the sixth club in QLD) to achieve this statusclub_accreditation_mitchy.

In a personal letter of congratulations, FFA CEO David Gallop said this achievement showed that Mitchelton had taken yet another step towards achieving best practice in the areas of coach education, club governance and volunteer development. “Your club has put itself in a better position to retain and recruit players, attract sponsors and attract volunteers” My Gallop said.

Club President Roger McIntosh said this was a significant development in the progress of the club and showed its commitment to being a market leader in key areas of player and coach development and facility improvement. “We are one of the biggest clubs in QLD with 1150 active playing members. Constant self evaluation and improvement is imperative in keeping us at the forefront of football development and ties in well with our plans for future expansion”.

McIntosh gave special praise to Accreditation Officer Grant Bramwell who has worked tirelessly on this project.

Thursday, 29 October 2015

newitem  agmThe Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the Mitchelton Sports Club Inc will be held on Wednesday 2 December 2015. The meeting, which will commence at 7pm, will be held at our clubhouse at Teralba Park.

The AGM will include reports from the President, Treasurer and other committee members, and is a great place to have your voice heard as a member. Elections will also be held for the 2016 Management Committee, with all six positions up for election as is normally the case. A range of non-committee positions also need to be filled on the night, ranging from the fundraising group to chief registrar. We have a position for anyone that can help out! Everyone of our club administrative positions is voluntary, so we need as many helpers as possible to make things happen.

I look forward to seeing you all there.

Roger McIntosh

Summer 6s Now Underway
Friday, 02 October 2015

bannernewitem  The Mitchie FC Summer 6s competition for 2015 is now underway. Registrations for this year's competition are now closed.

We've had a terrific response to the competition with over 50 teams registered. Unfortuately, we are unable to proceed with the Open Mens, U14/15 & U16/18 divisions because we don't have enough teams to form competions in these age groups.
