Mitchie FC needs your help to give our home ground at Teralba Park a bit of a tidy up ahead of what is going to be another big football season. A Working Bee has been arranged for Saturday 23 January 2010 from 8.00am until Midday.

Some of the tasks during the morning will include: 

• cleaning the interior and exterior of the clubhouse;
• cleaning the canteen and bar areas; and
• weeding garden beds, etc.

Please bring along you whipper snipper and other gardening and cleaning tools.  We look forward to your help.   

Mitchie FC sign on dates for the 2010 season will be as follows:

• Saturday 30 January 2010 from 9.00am to 4.00pm.
• Sunday 31 January 2010 from 9.00am to 1.00pm.

Todd Kliendienst has been appointed coach of MFC's under 13 BJL team. Trials for any players interested in trying out for this team will be announced in the next couple of days. Preseason training will recommence on Tuesday 5 January at Teralba Park at 6.45pm for players wishing to trial for the Mitchie FC First Division, First Division Reserves and Premier Youth teams. Teams will train each Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.45pm during preseason.

Our season will kick off on Sunday February 21 away to Ipswich City at Sutton Park. Preseason games are as follows:

• Intra Club game - Saturday 9 January
  

• Preseason games at The Gap - Saturday 16 January
  

• Preseason Tournament at Pine Hills - weekends of 22/23 January, 29/30 January, 6/7 February and 13/14 February 2010.

Mitchie FC has accepted invitations from Football Brisbane to field a team in the U13 and U14 BJL competitions in 2010.

The committee is calling for expressions of interest in the coaching of these two teams. Up to date coaching qualifications are highly desirable. We will be conducting pre-season trials for both teams. The final details of these will be available on this site shortly. Any players that are interested in playing for MFC in the U13 and U14 BJL teams next year are requested to attend the pre season trials.

The structure document indicates where assistance is needed by the Management Committee to operate the Club successfully. Some Members may identify other positions that may be necessary and these will be added to the document at the AGM, which will be held on Monday 30 November 2009 at the clubhouse at 7.30pm.

Senior Men’s pre-season training will begin next Tuesday 24 November at 6.45pm. Training will be held each Tuesday and Thursday evening until Christmas.

All players are welcome to come down and trial for the Firsts, Reserves and Premier Youth teams.

Mitchelton Football Club celebrated the official launch of our new floodlights on Friday 23 October with the Member for Everton Murray Watt and club dignitaries.

MFC President Kevin Jones, joined Life Members and Mitchie Management Committee members to thank everyone involved in the project for the large amount of hard work devoted to bringing the new lighting to fruition.

Mr Jones said the new lights were made possible through the Queensland Government’s Sport and Recreation grants scheme.

He said the new lights meant a vastly improved standard of lighting for training and match nights at the club.

“This is a huge step forward for our club,” he said. “This has been a long and tough project but we now have three full-sized playing fields lit to the best possible standard for fixtures.

“It also means we have a lot better lighting for all our teams for training too.

“This new lighting is another example of how our club is looking to the future and continuing to offer the best facilities possible for our 800 players of all ages.”

On Friday night, Mr Jones and fellow MFC committee members also congratulated Adam Pilat, Steve Frame and Glen Norton for their 20 years playing service with the club.

Mr Jones said the three players embodied the spirit of Mitchie with their long-term dedication to football at the northside club. The three were presented with their Mitchie Stalwarts jackets and jerseys at the Over 35s and Over 45s trophy presentation evening also held at the club on the night (click on the photo to see a larger version).

We are celebrating a range of activities this Friday night, 23 October 2009, at our Clubhouse. Please come along and take part.

At 5.30 to 6.30pm we’ll be officially turning on the new lights for the first time. We now have 3 senior sized fields capable of playing night games on, with a range of additional training lights to add further capacity to the Club’s training space. At 6.30pm we’ll be inducting Adam Pilat, Steve Frame and Glenn Norton as Mitchie Stalwarts (20 years of playing service). This is a fantastic achievement by these guys and we invite you all along to celebrate with them.Our Over 35 and 45 teams will hold their Presentation of Trophies at 7.30pm through to midnight.

Please note the over 35s and 45s function is $25 per head and by ticket only.

Please make your way down to the Clubhouse from 5.30pm and join in the celebrations.

Mitchelton Football Club life member and long time soccer Mum, Merle Heiner, has a special plea to all Mitchie members. Please help out if you are able. Here is Merle's request:

Congratulations to our under 11 division 2, under 12 division 1 and under 12 division 6 teams for their grand final wins on the weekend. It is also noteworthy that our other teams in the grand finals - under 11 division 7, under 12 division 2, under 15 division 2 and under 16 division 1 - all went down by just one goal.
