The Keith Green Golf Classic is on again this year on Sunday 25 July 2010. This will be a fantastic day which kicks off at 8am at the Ashgrove Golf Club. After the golf, everyone is welcome back to  the clubhouse for a BBQ. There will be plenty of prizes awarded and donated items will be auctioned off, with proceeds going to the Variety Children's Charity.

Our Mitchie FC U6 and U7 juniors lead the Queensland support for the Socceroos when they appeared on the front page of the Courier Mail on Saturday 19 June 2010. The support ahead of their match against Ghana obviously helped, with Australia playing considerably better than their first match, earning a hard fought 1-1 draw.

Our Junior Director Pedr Kilpatrick turns 40 today (Thursday 17 June 2010)! We wish him the biggest happy birthday.

Mitchelton FC are pleased to announce that Brazilian Soccer Schools will be providing a winter holiday camp at Teralba Park, Mitchelton from Monday 5th July to Thursday 8th July, 9am to 12noon for ages 5 to 16. The focus will be learning dribbling skills like the Pele, Ronaldhino, Robhino, Adriano and Kaka. Following this there will be regular weekly sessions in Term 3.

Our regular Canteen Supervisor is taking leave. We are seeking a motivated person to fulfill this role in her absence. This position is PAID and will suit a person or persons looking for weekend work, 15 - 20 hours per week on average. We are also hosting a Tournament on the 5th, 6th, 8th and 9th of July that will require a worker from 8am til 4pm (approximate times). Work will commence in late June. Single or joint applications are welcome. Experience in a similar position would be highly regarded but not essential. Fundamental to this role is; hygienic and safe working practices, basic cooking skills and good organisational capabilities.

One of our over 35s Coaches has lost a stopwatch somewhere around the club in the last week. This item has some real sentimental value to him, so if you have found a stopwatch in the last week, please contact Andrew Lowther on 0439419161, or simply hand it in to the club. 

In the women's Premier Cup competition Mitchelton's Division 1 team played the first round cup game against Souths United (Premier division) at Wakerley Park on Monday night. The Mitchelton team was victorious in a strongly contested game coming away with a 3-2 win with goals from Jade Banks (2) and Jenny Roberts.

Chicks Rule - an exciting article detailing the events of the extraordinary Mitchie Women’s teams. Mitchie Magic – (in our case) spirited energy surrounding Mitchie women.

Yes We’re Back….. That’s right Mitchie women are back in their kicking boots, stomping their own Mitchie mark into the season and guess what - there are more of us!

Yes you heard right 2010 celebrates the largest number of players in the women’s competition for Mitchie. This season we field three (3) Junior women’s teams in the Under 12s, Under 14s and Under 16s age groups and four (4) Senior women’s teams in Divisions 1, 2, 7 and 8.

With high expectations from the players for the 2010 season we have been lucky to gain the leadership of Kelvin Wheeler (Division 1), Peter Hodgkin (Division 2), Rachelle Huggett & Lily MacDonald (Division 7), Mark Robertson (Division 8) Mylo Ward (Under 16s), Noel Lord (Under 14s) and Pedr Kilpatrick (Under 12s) with further bench support from the Managers – Wendy Him, Marnie Marchesi, and Kylie Jenkins.

Whilst a rainy start to the season (with many games being rained out) all teams have displayed the makings of seven strongly united, occasionally cohesive, always brilliant, Mitchie spirited teams. One things for sure, each player brings their own bit of magic to stick it up them that green and yellow!

Mitchelton Football Club will be holding a free “Come & Try” session with the team at Brazilian Soccer Schools this Sunday 2 May 2010. The sessions will be divided into various age groups and times. Some age groups will overlap to give you a choice:

• Under 5s, 6s & 7s - 8.45am to 9.45am
  
• Under 7s, 8s & 9s - 9.45am to 10.45am
  
• Under 9s & above - 10.45am to 11.45am

All sessions will be held on Field 4 which is located to the north of the newly renovated Field 3. Please bring sand shoes (rather than football boots), drink bottle and sunscreen.

The Mitchelton Football Club recently hosted the Ugandan based Watoto Children’s Choir for an entertaining day of singing, football and friendship.

A part of an organisation dedicated to responding to the ‘cry of the orphaned and vulnerable children of Africa’, the Watoto Children’s Choir tours the world voicing a song of hope. The Watoto Children’s Choir helps to raise awareness of the issues Ugandan people face due to the AIDS epidemic and civil war of the past 22 years.

Choir members pitted their football skills against the club’s juniors. Mitche FC players from our U10 teams participated in what was a very fun day for the all involved, with children from the choir treating those present to an impromptue performance.

A quick reminder to all members about a couple of club rules:

• Boots in the club house - A reminder that no boots are to be worn in the Clubhouse at anytime.

• Committee Parking - There are several parking spots near the Clubhouse that have been designated for Committee Members only. It would be appreciated if these can be left only for committee members at all times, as there are often supplies or urgent issues which require members of the Mitchie FC management team to use these parking spots.

Your ongoing cooperation with these items is greatly appreciated. 

Mitchelton Football Club have 7 teams that compete in the Over 35's masters competition including 2 Division 3 sides. At the last moment the Division 3 sides have had a few players pull out. Mitchelton FC is pleased to announce that North West Physiotherapy will not only be our preferred supplier of Physiotherapy services for 2010, but join us as our First Division major sponsors for the 2010 season. Roger McIntosh and his team have been providing excellent service to our players and families over the last three seasons and we are honoured to continue being a partner with North West Physio.

Tim West will be available on Tuesday nights at the Club’s premises from 6.15pm to 7pm and there are set times available on Monday mornings at the North West Physio Clinic on Flockton Street, Everton Park, to exclusively see any player that needs to be assessed. This will allow time to have a proper look at all injured players in a clinical environment, and then communicate with coaching staff re ability to play or train that week.

Brazilian Soccer Schools Brisbane are hosting clinics across Brisbane during the Easter holidays. Clinics will be held at Jindalee, Kedron & Newmarket.

The National Football Curriculum, which was recently released by Football Federation of Australia, has introduced a number of changes to Small-Sided Football for the 2010 season and beyond. This impacts all Mitchie FC junior teams from Under 6 to Under 11.

To assist in understanding these changes and the Optus Small Sided Football concept as a whole, Football Brisbane has put together a website which contains all of the necessary information you need regarding rules, field sizes, and other changes. All coaches, parents and other interested parties should read this material to understand the changes.
