o35s & o45s Extravaganza Night a great success!

The Mitchie o35s and o45s gents teams held their second Extravaganza Night last Friday night.

Newstead Brewery were put to the test with beer tasting in the stands for all members during the event and the players were impressed with the range and variety on offer.

The main focus of the night, of course, was playing football and raising money for the junior lighting upgrade.

With a staggering $640 contribution from a raffle of donated prizes from o35s & o45s players, Mitchie FC is edging closer to getting brighter lighting on the southern side of the club rooms. Raffle prize winners scored an array of fabulous prizes, including portable speakers and battery packs, gift vouchers, electronic devices, tools for the workshop, beer packs and even a fruit box. Well done everyone!

The Extravaganza also attracted o35s & o45s Mitchie players for an intra club six-a-side comp on Field 2. They loved the format, and it was an absolute breeze to set up four matches at a time with the easy to manoeuvre mini goals. This set the scene for wonderful night of football!

The FA Cup style competition saw a knock out draw with higher seeded teams playing lower ranks – so they thought! With a slab of beer for the winner, the skill level on display was a delight to watch. Congratulations go to the o45s Div 1 Holmes team, who bested the o35s Div 4 Mustangs team in a 3-0 victory.

The Mitchie o35s & o45s lads can’t wait for more six-a-side comps on Field 2!

New 6 a side comp starting soon!

Registrations are now open for our brand new 6-a-side comp! Click here to find out more and register.

Perspective 2

New pitch gets the thumbs up from the old boys

Our o35s Div 3 team - Mitchelton Mavericks - had a crack at the new synthetic pitch last week and gave it their tick of approval. Despite going down 3-2 to North Lakes on the weekend, they've progressed considerably throughout the season and are happy with the direction they're headed in.

Also playing on the inaugural night of the new pitch were Mitchelton Nics - our o45s Div 2 team. They took a little bit to get used to the pace of the new pitch but settled to come away with a 5-1 win - continuing their unbeaten streak this season.

Irrigation Status

Stage 1
The Committee have arranged to have the Water Tank located at Field 5 connected to the main water compound located next to Field 1. As you might have noticed, Field 5 is now closed for the next couple of weeks in order to provide it with some much needed irrigation and seeding from the bore water located in the main water compound.

CostThe Club has incurred no cost for having these works completed.

Stage 2
In order to maintain water levels within both the main water compound and Field 5 water tank, a review of the remainder of the bore holes was done. The bore hole located near the walk way opposite Field 7 has been identified as the most viable water source in addition to the bore located in the main water compound. A complete irrigation system installation is required in order to fully utilise this bore.

Cost The Committee have solicited a number of quotes from Contractors to find the most cost effective option available. The cost equates to $16,500.00 all inclusive with the works being completed by a number of Contractors. Trenching, electrical and installation of the irrigation piping will all be done by separate Contractors. All of these activities will be managed by Perfection Plus Maintenance ("PPM") free of charge. PPM is presently responsible for the maintenance of Mitchie fields and facilities. Works will take about 5-7 days to complete post approval of the Work Order requested via Brisbane City Council.

This process will reduce the Club's water bill significantly and provide much needed irrigation to remainder of our fields.
